Zhu of Correr Es Mi Destino - My New Life In Canada Under The Snow tagged me (aarrgghh!) to post seven random facts about myself and, because she’s my kinda gal… or I’m soft in the head, here are the bare bones of the skeletons I’ve unearthed.
1. I lived on a barge for a few months in 2006 (and I’d love to live on a boat when I move to Crete).
2. I earned my living with a market stall in the mid 1990s, selling retro clothing and handicrafts (and loved it).
3. I met my long lost big brother in 1993 (long story).
4. I lived in a converted mini bus at Molesworth (USAF Base) Peace Camp in the mid 1980s (yep, I’m an ol’ hippy).
5. I went to Iran in 1976, the year before the Shah was deposed, and worked as a nanny (I plead temporary insanity).
6. I declined a date with a member of the (Gary) Glitter Band in 1975 (and, boy, was he pissed-off!).
7. I was invited to appear in a Beatles’ video in 1967 (I looked more mature than my years).
OK, that’s your lot — I mustn’t reveal too many of my secrets!
This tagging is difficult, I never know if the tagees will despise me for doing it to them.
Hmmm… who shall I pick? OK, I’ve thought about it and selected my victims appropriate people to carry forward the torch. I’ve tagged only two, because I don’t want to lose too many friends in one fell swoop! LOL.

Hi Reward Rebel,
Video with the Beatles, WoW! Did you agree to appear?
It’s kinda difficult isn’t it. I had been tagged last January with the very same 7 random facts, so I just re-posted it and addressed it to Zhu. Of course the title is consistent with my obsession with alliteration.
One random fact I didn’t include are things about blogging. Sometimes I have the post all finished with all relevant photos in place and I still don’t have a title because I cannot form the alliterative style about it. Crazy huh? We all have our little demons that we help create.
–Durano, done!

Hey Durano,
Nope, I was such an arrogant little madam, that (a) I expected opportunities like that to fall out of the sky every day, and (b) it was for ‘Hey Jude’ and when I saw the video (which was crap) considered that my reputation had had a lucky escape!! Doh!
Whoa! You have done some really interesting things. Living on a barge sounds very exotic.

Three words: Oh, my God.
I certainly don’t regret tagging you!
First of all, the sunset picture is absolutely gorgeous. Makes me wanna live in a barge too. Except well, way too much ice here
Worked as a nanny in Iran? And *I* thought I was original with my Chinese studies! Respect sista!
You will have to explain the brother story as well…
Okay, just quit marketing and write your memoirs, would you?

Heh heh, oh Daisy, exotic?! If you saw the moorings I wintered at you’d not think so!
Fortunately, we don’t have alligators in North London, as BOTH my cats* fell in the river - once each. In fact, when Dollie fell in I thought she was a goner. It was 6am on a Sunday morning, I heard a heavy splash and knew what it was straight away (cos Nomad had already had her experience). I leapt out of bed, and shot onto the bank to get a net. It was winter and bloody freezing, and I was wearing a camisole, jammie bottoms, and flip flops. I must’ve looked demented!
I was frantic, because I couldn’t get to her, and then I lost sight (and sound) and I thought I’d lost her. Then I heard a weak little meow, as somehow she defied gravity and launched herself up the vertical canal bank. I just don’t know how she did it, but I was one relieved and happy mommie!
Crikey, this has practically turned into a post!
*Sadly, my darling Nomad died last August, aged 14, and I still miss her very much
she was a real character
Ordinarily, Zhu, I don’t do tags, but it was fun reminiscing.
The barge episode went wrong because it wasn’t my boat, and there were problems with the owner being a complete jerk.
But I never got tired of the wonders of living on the river, watching the season progress at such close quarters.
I’d hear a noise against the hull, look out the window and be staring straight into the face of a swan or goose! It was amazing, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat… if it was my own vessel.
Unfortunately, it’s another inexpensive way of opting out of the rat race that mainstream is catching onto, which means boat prices and mooring fees are rising at a rate of knots!
Ah well, when I’ve made my millions, I’ll just buy a yacht!
You have such an interesting life, Layne!
I love learning new things about you.
You were actually in Iran the year that I was born.

I’m a slow poke.. but I finally did this.
Judi’s last blog post..Random Facts About Me
Hiya Judi,
Good on you. I like learning new info about my friends online, after all, it’s such a strange way to get acquainted! No eye contact, no body language, no tone of voice. All the usual ’social’ and/or ‘communications’ tools aren’t available. Remarkable really, how online comms have exploded.
