Link Building And Ice Cream!
Entrecard is the first ‘web happening’ of which I’ve been a component, and for long enough to have witnessed its growth and impact on the blogosphere. Without a doubt, Entrecard’s rise has been meteoric, and I’ve often mentioned it’s been a good friend to not only Reward Rebel, but many new and developing online business websites.
Traffic exchanges can generate additional visitors to a squeeze page or splash page, but they are not the right medium for blog promotion.
In May Reward Rebel attained a Google PR2, and I wrote a post in which I expressed my gratitude to Entrecard for having contributed. Blog Badly and IM David Lee disputed that Entrecard would affect a site’s Page Rank.
I explained that when I refer to Entrecard, usually I am talking about the Entrecard Community. The network of people who are the bloggers and web masters behind all the virtual architecture.
It is the Entrecard Community which has
• significantly ramped up this site’s traffic stats
• added to its RSS subscribers
• increased the ratio of comments
• built back-links, and
• introduced prospective joint venture partners.
Entrecard has also improved
• Reward Rebel’s Technorati Authority,
• Alexa Traffic Rank and, by so doing,
• Google PR2 attained.
(Now folks, could you all start working on Digg, StumbleUpon and Reddit, please?)
Of course, the icing on the cake is that I’ve made friends who otherwise would never have graced my life. (Just a sec, I need to wipe away a tear.)
If you’d like to give a shout out for Entrecard, I’d love to hear what this extraordinary community of bloggers has done for you!

That takes care of the link building, so what about the ice cream? Well, I’ve just consumed an entire 500ml tub of Häägen Dazs Pralines & Cream while I was writing this piece! Hmmm, think there’s a chance my next blog will be about weight loss!
Good luck with your internet marketing adventure — make sure you enjoy what you’re doing and you’ll surely enjoy success!

Please, accept my handkerchief and wipe that tear away (before it falls into the ice-cream). Oh, I’m sorry, if you wanted a clean one you should have asked first
You are right about Entrecard. This PR adjustment took my PR from 3 to 2, in spite of the fact that I have more content, more traffic and more backlinks than before, at the moment of the previous PR adjustment.
But I don’t care because i’m geting lots of traffic from Entrecard, Blogcatalog and other social sites. Maybe Google is trying to tell me something, but I’m not holding my breath on PR (on the other hand, now I have several inner pages with PR 1 and 2).
Thanks for your good wishes (you sound like if you are retiring, maybe it was the ice-cream effect, hehe).
And same to you

that’s very weird about the reduction in PR, but Google are so mysterious who knows how they work it all out?
And no worries about the hanky, what’s a bit of snot between friends?

I agree - Entrecard has been a great help in boosting my sites’ visibility, but most of all, I have made great friends via this service and encountered wonderful sites that I probably wouldn’t have come across without it.
Visiting niche sites is obviously great, but limiting one’s experience to them would be losing out on a wealth of intersting, amusing and heart-warming experiences. Services like Entrecard and BlogCatalog certainly help to broaden our online experiences and relationships in very happy ways.
I would like to drop a lot more than I do, but I have limited bandwidth, which is a pity.

When I started learning about Internet Marketing and ’static’ web pages (Web 1.0), I wasn’t best pleased that I then had to learn all about ‘dynamic’ web pages (Web 2.0) and the social networking aspect of marketing. If you’re interested, you can read about my introduction to blogging in Genesis of a Blogger
I wasn’t prepared for how enjoyable the networking would be! Of course, if you are involved in it all as part of an online business and not just for fun, one has to be disciplined about how much time is spent on shout outs, messaging, and even dropping Entrecards!

There is absolutely no question that my sites have benefited greatly from my enrollment in the EntreCard community. While there IS a lot of in-and-out traffic to just drop cards, I’m also seeing more and more stick around to read and comment. That’s very rewarding and encourages me to write more and better articles that seem to interest my readers.
While eyespi20 still has no page rank despite it’s many backlinks, posts, relevant keywords, et al, my photo blog has a PR of 1 (yeah!). I don’t write anything on it, just put up pictures {laughing} Maybe the big G is trying to tell me something and I should talk less on the other two blogs.
Congratulations on the PR — it’s an ephemeral thing, kind of like ice cream when you think about it — so enjoy it while you have it and may the big icecream maker in the sky keep on cranking it out for you.

Sometimes there is no figuring it out, is there? I visit some sites and wonder what on earth their keywords are, as there doesn’t appear to be any consistency of content. But, hey, what do I know?

Hi Reward Rebel,
Thanks, I read your genesis. Bumpy ride it is. I’m still trying to figure out the reward part. I set up http://www.skychamber.net for that purpose, but now the ardious task of getting the blog seen starts again!

Heh heh, yep that sounds familiar! It’s positive to be branching out, but ‘oh no, here we go again’! Best of luck with new venture.

The biggest benefit that the Entrecard community has given in terms of PR are the backlinks when you are a top dropper on a blog. I think these links have been very beneficial when it comes to getting up to a PR3; which didn’t change this time around.

Entrecard has developed and grown beyond anything I envisaged when I first signed-up, and it’s changed the ballgame for a lot of bloggers. RR’s PR has stagnated a bit, but I hope lots of new content will ring the changes.

Hi Reward Rebel,
You were the one who introduced me to Entrecard, or I found out about it from you, I can’t tell which one it is anymore, but all I know is that it’s because of you.
I have been benefited immensely by my involvement in this community by way of new friends, traffic rank and PR. I recall that you were the first to advertise on my site and you gave me a wonderful recommendation.
Also, I have discovered sites that are a pleasure to visit and read which uplifts the spirit or provide great fun.
Entrecard did a lot for me, but you have done more Layne. Thanks a lot.
–Durano done!
P.S.
I don’t know when this could be posted, depends on the schedule of my secretary. Anyway, at least now I know I can connect and can post despite the very short internet access I get on weekends while playing touch and go with the power supply in the city; and the super slow dial-up connection. It’s challenging my creativity - really!

I’m sure you’d have encountered Entrecard anyway, but I obviously very pleased that it’s helped your site, and that you’ve enjoyed involvement in the community. I felt compelled to email you yesterday, but it may have ended up in your Junk folder, so I’m going to resend it via Entrecard messages.
Thinking of you often, my friend.
