I’m A Victim Of My Own Success
Reward Rebel has kinda become a victim of its own success on Entrecard, and I’m reducing my card dropping activities until the cost of advertising on this blog has reduced to a more realistic level.
By 15 January, it had risen to 184ec and if I spend that much to advertise on a site, I expect a return of additional traffic click thrus that’s greater than I believe Reward Rebel is currently able to attract.
From reading blogs sporting the widget, I’m not alone in experiencing this ‘overpricing’ and wonder whether anyone is able to propose a solution. Perhaps they could set the advertising cost, but allow the blog author to reduce it if they so desire. Any thoughts?
My apologies for posting about ‘that’ network again, I’m trying to quit, honest.

Hello there fellow EntreCarder!
What’s wrong with having a too high advertising cost aye?
Cheers!
If Reward Rebel enjoyed a ton of traffic from external sources, hey, I’d be the first one up there cheering as the Entrecard price inched higher and higher, but it doesn’t… yet. Consequently, I feel guilty that advertisers may be expecting a much greater return on their creds than they’ll get. As I mentioned to another commentator, I’m just a soppy doppy, soft ‘n’ fluffy kinda rebel;-D
Entrecard definitely sounds popular… I had never heard of it till like two weeks ago and now I see it everywhere.
What are the main benefits? It works with credits, right?
I do very little in term of monetizing/ blog ads so I’m always curious about new opportunities… yeah, I could just sign up and see but to be honest, I’m tired of sign up first and seeing after, I like other’s opinion!
I agree to a point, but the high advertising cost kind of weeds out those who are not participating in the true meaning of what entrecard is all about. You need to visit the other blogs to drop your cards and earn credits. If you keep the advertising low, then what is the incentive to go and drop cards on other blogs? By participating and dropping cards on other blogs I raise the cost of advertising credits for my blog, I would not want someone to take advantage of the traffic I get by being able to advertise at a low cost of credits and not visit the other blogs that helped me get there.
To Zhu..I say like Nike Just Do It…You just might make a friend or two
Zhu – Entrecard has increased the traffic to Reward Rebel, tho how much of it would continue if I were to stop dropping cards remains to be seen. The Alexa traffic ranking was at something like 360,000 and since using Entrecard has gone to 239,961. Now I’m not going to pretend I fully understand what that means but it’s gotta be good!
Give it a shot - all you do is click the link on a blog (drop your card), and then click the advertiser’s link to surf into the next site. Simple. Along the way you discover some great new blogs (and some that aren’t so great, too).
You do have to check your Entrecard Dashboard on a daily basis, especially when you first register cos you’ll be inundated with advertising requests. People hope the newcomers have a blog with a reasonably healthy flow of traffic, and that they can get some of it while the advertising cost is low (starts at a few credits a day and grows).
Even if you spent half an hour a day dropping cards on sites which have dropped theirs on yours, I believe you’d benefit.
Go for it girlfriend;-D
Ray – Whilst I totally agree with you regarding not giving away advertising to people who can’t be arsed to put in the effort, I’m not advocating a ridiculously low price, just something around the 150 mark.
When I trawl Entrecard deciding where to advertise, I am trying to find a site with a PR3-4, and they are there for a cost of 200 creds and less. So I tend to think, “why would anyone pay 200 credits to advertise on Reward Rebel when for the same amount they can place an ad on a site with a respectable Page Rank?”.
If I’m overlooking something here, please bang me on the head til I understand;-D
I have noticed the same issue. But I haven’t gone too far yet. My cost jumped up to the 120’s, but I slacked off for a few days.
I guess you find a balance eventually
I’m not a fan of our costs automatically rising as they do either. I would like an option for us to be able to override and lower our ad costs.
I have submitted feedback on this to Entrecard - perhaps we should start a petition;-D
