Entrecard Rides Again
Entrecard Rides Again
A couple of weeks ago, I started to write a review of each of my Top Ten Entrecard Droppers, and got as far as doing the first two, but then made a deliberate decision not to post about it again without allowing a respectable interval, in which other subject matter is aired.
Graphs and comparison charts have been designed, and many articles have been written about Entrecard, and I myself have posted about it on several occasions. Since signing up, there’s no doubt Reward Rebel has enjoyed considerably more traffic, and a proliferation of comments has mushroomed.
Entrecard delivers results in direct proportion to the amount of effort invested, and is a true friend to the new blogger. It’s a well-balanced service, and knowing the enthusiasm of its users, I’m fascinated to see what the future holds for its development.
It would be helpful if Entrecard allowed users to access full statistics instead of the summary that’s available. When planning advertising, it’s not at all helpful to refer to the click thru rates of your ten best advertising campaigns when one figure is the result for a solo ad, and another is the total for several, but Entrecard makes no distinction.
Since the data is collected anyway, I don’t understand why we can’t access it. Unless perhaps Entrecard intends to introduce a two-tier structure, with full accessibility being a benefit of a paid upgrade.
If you’d enjoy reading a more detailed article that covers every aspect of the Entrecard community, you’ll find the definitive review The Economy of Entrecard – Worth It or Worthless? at JT Pratt’s Blogging Mistakes, a site filled with useful information and helpful insights, as well as finding time to offer assistance and encouragement to the less experienced blogger.
John has also launched a new initiative enabling blog authors to contact one another with a view to exchanging content. This is a wonderful idea, and many have already signed up. You can read further details about this new venture at Content Exchange
Finally, today I came across an interesting little script to help speed up your Entrecard dropping experience. You can download the Entrecard Site Opener from TechiePortal.com a site harbouring many more unusual devices to make life a little simpler.
The adventure is gaining pace!

I have really enjoyed Entrecard, I drop everyday. I have enjoyed some success as well. I made it to the top 5 yesterday for a little while. I was elated. I’d like to see more stats available as well.

I would love to see some stats on numbers of clicks from ads that I placed along with time on site and bounce rate.

Not so much unique viewers, but lots of times some viewers may not look at content the first, second or twelfth time, but they will read on the thirteenth.

thanks for the link and kind words! I think we all would like to see some better stats rather than the custom stat snapshots they give us!

Drew, Sunny Daydreame & StanHayes –
As well as statistics for ads I’ve placed, I’d be interested to see the stats for traffic generated by the ads placed on my site.
I’ve fed back to Entrecard on the subject, and wonder whether other users have.
There seems to be a trend among Entrecard users… when people first sign up they love the extra traffic their site enjoys, but then they realise people are racing through without reading the content, and they conclude the traffic is poor quality. If they stick with it, they then notice that perhaps 9 out of 10 drops are raced through, but on the odd occasion the card dropper stops off and reads the blog, they’re likely to comment.
The artificially stoked cost of advertising has raised its ugly head again, and currently, it costs 221ec to advertise on Reward Rebel. People do submit repeat ads, so I guess additional traffic is being driven to their site. It just seems a bit out of kilter, that for an additional 50ec you could advertise on John Chow’s blog, well… if you could advertise there at all, via Entrecard.

Hmm maybe you could spend another 50 and adv on John Chow, so what… Almost all the traffic from EC is from other bloggers who are dropping cards to get EC points. If this site has 220 EC rate for adv, it means 110 people come to this blog everyday to drop cards.
Btw my script aint in beta testing or anything, its just 5 lines of code

I do apologise for the error, I’d been looking at several scripts and plugs-ins and my poor lil pea brain got a tad confused - can ya ever forgive me?
I’ve amended the post and tried to kiss arse by including a few additional kind words

If that’s true, and most people want full access to stats, Entrecard should be advised of this. They welcome user feedback, and I have fed back my own feelings on the subject. Any ideas about how best to approach this?
As for kind words and links… you’re very welcome, and you earned ‘em

Hey!
Interesting post. Despite what I have said about Entrecard, or what other entrecarders have said.. We actually get a lot of traffic from entercard!
One thing that I have recently begun is to reward my droppers.
I have therefore made a widget (for blogs) that will list the last droppers at your page in eg. your sidebar.
You can find it here: Entrelist

Hiya Christian,
Thanks for letting me know about your widget, but I’m trying to keep my sidebar as clear as possible.
