Entrecard Advertising Tip
Entrecard Advertising Tip
A brief word about advertising, and a tip, which I have found particularly useful when determining whether or not an Entrecard blog is a good choice to place an ad. I’ve paid less than 64ECs for an ad, and received dozens of clicks thru, and I’ve paid around 500ECs and received barely 10. There have also been quite a few from which there has been a big fat ZERO in clicks.
If you want to get the best return on your investment, you need to do a little digging.
The simplest thing to do is download the Alexa Ranking Toolbar onto your browser, and you’ll be able to tell-at-a-glance whether or not a website has sufficient traffic rank to validate advertising there. ![]()
But don’t stop at that. The ranking is an average over the past three months, and what you now need to ascertain is whether that flow of traffic is on the increase or decline.

By clicking the toolbar, you are presented with options to view Site Traffic Details, which will show you the traffic levels the site has received in the last week, and this can often make a huge difference to whether or not the website is worth your investment.
You can save yourself a lot of cash or credits, not to mention disappointment, just by applying this one simple check when you’re weighing up advertising options.
If you have any tips to help bloggers with their advertising, we’d love to hear them.

Good tips! I’d take any tips, as you know, I have a lot to learn!
What do you think of the best place for ads on a blog? Do you go by Google “hot spots”?

In Entrecard, I buy ads from the most recent category. It is not guaranteed that you will receive traffic from this or let alone get approved. I think of it as promoting my blog to the newcomer. If he/she likes my blog, then it will get approved or if ever you ad is rejected, you get your credit back and a good chance that the owner will remember your blog and your brand.

Layne,
Oh, I have that tool my friend and it’s serving me very well in determining a site’s pedigree in terms of Alexa ranking.
It’s a great tool everybody should have.

All good advice, both from Reward Rebels post and orangeInk’s comment. I too always try to buy spots on the most recent ones. Another thing I’ll do is buy entrecard spots on blogs that are not in my same niche market, and that have advertising costs of 10 to 20 per day. The sports category is usually a good one for that.

The best spot to locate an ad? I’m not going to mislead you, m’dear, this is something I’m learning myself, cos blogging is an aspect of internet marketing that’s comparatively new to me. A promise I can give you is that when I am more knowledgeable about this topic, I’ll share it!
I just know you’ll have some ideas, Zhu, that could help me with my request in the previous post Win A Prize You’d Really Enjoy. Most people appear to value an indepth review of their website, but I’m a newbie blogger myself, and don’t feel qualified to conduct a constructive appraisal.
What a conundrum… I’m the one who could do with a thorough review of my blog;-D

This is some great advice and has helped me a lot. I have a question, i see a lot of people have donate widget if you like the article, how does that Work?

Nice to see you here, and I’m delighted that you’ve found this tip beneficial.
What’s really enlightening is when you click through to the Alexa website and view the Traffic Details of a website, because on the Toolbar their rank may read, say, 745,876 but that’s averaged over four months. At the website, it shows you their rank over the last week, which might possibly have risen to, say, 123,456, which is a massive difference, and one that can change an advertising prospect from ‘not worth the credits’ to ‘a promising prospect’!
The other point you mention is, I think, when a blog author has added a Paypal button, so that if a person particularly enjoys an article or tip, they’re able to donate a few dollars — if they so wish.
I’ve never provided a Paypal button on my blog, and never donated to a blog, so don’t know how successful this method is for generating income. But I doubt it’s very lucrative!
Hope this clarifies it for you. All the best for your future blogging… and for life too;-D

I’ve had that wee icon on my toolbar for months and never realised there was anything more to it than a ranking. Very helpful.

Hi Jim -
So easy to take knowledge for granted, and I need to list a bunch of things that I didn’t know myself not so very long ago, and include them here.
I’m thrilled that you’ve benefited from this post;-D

Thanks for pointing this. I usually “randomly” put my ad on Entrecard members lol
I guess I need to start saving my credits only for popular sites

Wow Layne, this is such a great tip! I have always had this toolbar for a long time, but never thought it could serve me to maximize my ec credits.
Thanks for sharing! I am such a noob when it comes to these things.
