Cybernetic Revolution

Reward Rebel logo miniIn the wake of the past week, I’ve been contemplating illness triggers, how to steer clear of unnecessary stress, and how to ensure I don’t overlook any early warning signs, as well as the best regime to achieve the ‘optimum me’ — and maintain it!

One thing I know with absolute certainty is that I spend too many hours in front of a computer – whether it’s my PC or laptop. I’m an addict, and apart from the massive chunk of time everyday spent building my online business, I’m guilty of using the internet search engines to check out whatever comes to mind or into a conversation, to which I don’t know the answer!

I’m far from being alone with this affliction, I imagine there will be people reading this post who will nod their head sagely, as they recognise feelings and facts that have become familiar companions in their own life.

My colleagues would look at me kinda strangely whenever I’d voice my eagerness for certain futuristic scenarios to become reality.

For instance, an internet-type network that people jack into directly by having a small device implanted in their brain, or perhaps some kind of external fitment. ‘Think’ yourself online, and you are!

Physical strength augmentations, too, are rather appealing, but the technological evolution I’m most eagerly awaiting is commercially available cybernetics.

I’m looking forward to ordering myself a brand spanking new, permanently fit and healthy, cybernetic body into which I can download my brain/mind, flick the ‘on’ switch, and never again endure aches and pains, sickness and invalidity, or wrinkles and sagging bits.

Here’s hoping that cybernetics progress sufficiently fast enough that when the technology is finally available, I haven’t become so decrepit that I can’t remember what it was I wanted to do, or why!

Ha! Yeah, I’m with you on the hope it comes around before I forget what I wanted it for.

I would be ecstatic if someone would just invent something that would wash, dry, iron and hang my clothes for me! I hate doing laundry!

    Hey Margaret,

Basically, if it requires ironing, it doesn’t get worn too often! I’ve never been very domesticated.

I spend too many hours online too… although because I don’t work with a computer nearby (since I teach), it’s actually quite relaxing at night.

But I like to control the technology… I like to be able to distance myself from it if I want to. So a chip implanted in my brain is a big no-no!

    Hi Reward Rebel,

A lot of these are wishful thinking which are manifestations of an avoidance of the inevitable - aging.

The wear and tear that we have subjected our bodies to have come to haunt us with all the outward signs such as sagging, wrinkles, creaking bones, and what have you.

Internal organs also have a life cycle. Perhaps you’re talking of stem cell development that can provide spare parts for those that are worn out or malfunctioning.

But who knows? Maybe someone will come up with something that would be right up your wish list. For me, I’ll pass. There will never be anything like the original me. :-) –Durano, done!

Does it cook, bake, wash, iron, have babies, massage? It’ll be a perfect gift for mothers. Hee…

With all the new technology these days, I’m sure cybernetics will be on it’s way soon. I just hope their products aren’t made by Microsoft. I don’t wanna have to push on both eyes and then my nose to reset myself all day (the new ctrl+alt+delete)….LoL

I don’t know how long are you disposed to wait, but I need that technology available NOW! :) And the reason why I need it so badly is because… uh… let me see… uh… can’t remember, sorry. :)

I so love your play of words and how you are able to get your message across in the most sophisticated of ways. I love to be able to see the day, Layne! I could totally relate to your cybernetics hopes of having that uncanny ability.

I have been away from home most days last week and every time I am not home, I swear I always have this tug to go run to the nearest internet cafe! I guess this disease can be hard to cure after all. lol! I actually am considering getting a mobile internet broadband connection. I guess the bug has got me real bad this time. :-)
