Back In The Saddle
First order of the day is to apologise for my rather lengthy absence. I’ve spent the best part of a week in a quiet, darkened room, hanging over the side of the bed with my head in a bucket! Not a lot of fun, I can tell you, especially with an excruciating thumping headache, threatening to explode my brain any moment.
Yep, I’m a migraine sufferer - common migraine – so it’s not a major headache accompanied by white light, but a major headache with violent throwing up – even when there’s nothing left, the body still convulses. I drink water just to avoid retching on an empty stomach – I don’t fancy rupturing something.
Anyway, folks, I apologise for not having a back-up plan for such occasions, but I’ll be posting as soon as I’ve caught up with the latest news. My partner has his own full-time commitments, but has helped out where he could — dropping Entrecards, and approving comments.
I’m writing this as I watch the Formula One Grand Prix in Monaco on TV, and Lewis Hamilton is in the lead, having started 3rd on the grid! For the past ten years or so, I’ve been a big Formula One fan, and look forward to attending future GPs round the world, as soon as I’ve made my millions. Oh yeah, enjoying the spectacle of the Monaco Grand Prix from the luxury of my own yacht is very appealing!
But back to today, I’ll see y’all a little later.

Yippee!! Lewis has just won the Monaco F1 GP!! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!!

All the best for your recovery, RR!
Funny, although I stopped watching Formula 1 when Michael Schumacher stopped racing, I was watching Monaco today, too!
And I’m happy for Hamilton. He’s an excellent driver and am sure he will win a lot more races in the future. I even assume he will become World Champion this or next year, now that his biggest enemy (Alonso) is out of reach.
Take care!

Hi Marcus,
Much as I appreciate Schumacher’s skill as an F1 driver - you’ll hate me for this - his unerring ability to win every GP kinda spoilt it for me! It was too often a Ferrari front row start and a Ferrari 1st and 2nd podium, and then there were the also rans.
Since I’ve been a fan, the past couple of years have been F1’s most exciting.
During ‘Qualifying’, one doesn’t know who’ll get pole, nor who’ll whizz past the chequered flag first on race day. Formula One has recaptured its exhilaration and excitement, and if Lewis Hamilton doesn’t win the Drivers’ Championship this year, I’ll take vows and join a monastery!
Appreciate your kind wishes, too. RR

I prefer Massa better, but I won’t argue with you today.
Hope you get well

Hey Anthony,
Massa has really matured as a driver and is definitely one of the most exciting prospects on the track.
Thanks for letting me off light!

Hi Amy,
It’s a bit scarey how many migraine sufferers there are — why do so many of us get them? My partner, Ken, is a brilliant nurse when I’m laid up and incapable!

Hi Reward Rebel,
I can imagine the difficulty of lying in bed and having to drop your head in a bucket time and again. I suppose that ending this type of ailment will be one of the things in your bucket list eh?
Take very good care of yourself. Watching shows that would entertain you is a good way of forgetting about the pain, even if only for a while. My only wish is that making millions doesn’t give you more headaches! Stay well.:-) –Durano, done.

Dearest Durano,
I’m OK now, and couldn’t have watched the GP if I wasn’t. There is NO way I can watch TV during the migraine — I can’t tolerate sound or light — it really is severe.
Still… what doesn’t kill me, makes me stronger!

Glad to hear you’re feeling better! I can relate as I’m also a migraine suffer and I know exactly what its like…I’d not wish that on my worst enemy!
Now when you’ve made your millions (& I’m sure that’ll be soon) I’d love to join you at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. Let me know when you’re coming!

Uh, I am sorry to hear this. I hope you feel better soon. I know these grumpy migraine attacks to well…

Hey Ana,
You’re a sufferer too, eh? I have no idea what triggers my attacks, tho I’ve tried to analyse it. Thanks for your kind words.
[Reply]
Hey pal! Hope you are better now.
I suffer from migraine too. Although nothing compared to yours.
My only remedy is an ice cold Coca Cola. Must be the caffeine in there.
Take good care. Stay away from the computer if you can!:)

Hi Sherxr,
I can only drink water, cos I can’t keep anything down! So it becomes progressively worse as I dehydrate too.
I’m fine now, tho, thanks for kindness.

migraines stink! I do not consider myself a migraine sufferer, but after Belle was born, I had migraines that were horrible. The docs thought it might be connected to child birth…I’ve not had one in 6 years and Belle is now 7. It all seemed to resolve itself. I do remember how horrible they were though…I can’t imagine having them on a regular basis (or as “regular” as migraines get! lol!)
Glad you’re feeling better!

Hey Jenny,
I seem to go through phases of getting migraines. Sometimes years may pass free of attacks, then several months where they’re frequent. One time I started to wake EVERY Saturday to an oncoming migraine! That really was hell, as I started to fear that I was continuing to get them because I was expecting to. The mind can behave very strangely!

At the risk of getting moderated outa here, i must admit i do not watch racing. I did live with a woman back in ‘00 who was a HUGE Nascar fan, so I kinda got roped into that each weekend, that was it.
My dad’s migraine triggers were food/drink related (scotch/chocolate I believe) if that helps narrow things down a bit.
It’s always good to see when bloggers aren’t afraid to get personal…if not a wee graphic…on their blogs

Aw, Dennis,
I’d never moderate you out! Tell ya something, there are a lot more migraine sufferers than I realised!
[Reply]
I think it’s STRESS…we all have our triggers…if I catch mine right @ the start, then I’m good…but otherwise…well, it hasn’t gone as far as head in a bucket…but I’ve lost a couple of days @ a time as well…glad that your partner is such a good nurse!!! Again, very impressed…especially w/ the EC dropping…that’s over and above…
STAY WELL!!

Oh, Raj,
My heart truly goes out to you - Sutil drove like a true champ-in-the-making and it was thrilling. To be thwarted like that (and by Raikonnen, too - Mr ‘Oh sorry, I forgot to bring my personality’) was crap luck. It’s certainly caught my attention tho, as one to watch next time out!

Oh Layne! I’m glad your over your suffering as well. I just had mine real bad. It must be the most awful thing on earth that I have ever have to go through. Even worse than labor. Atleast I got to practice lamaze/bradley. So I was in control. But with migraine, I’m so defeated.
Imagine right from elementary grade I’ve had these attacks. It’s terrible. My last post from my other blog was also about this latest bout. http://jenaspacio.blogspot.com/2008/05/down-with-migraine-again.html
May I ask, what medications do you take, that is if you take any? I know I need to gear up and get alternative meds for future attacks. I’m going to see another doctor too for this one tomorrow.
Take care Layne! I feel with you!

The ones that tick me off are those that say *migraine* for sympathy when they have a “bad headache”…..if they only knew, eh?
You DO NOT have a migraine, I say. OH YEAH?! they huff, how do YOU know…..your walkin’ talkin’ and bitchin’ about it proves it, I say with a smirk.
This almost always brings about a classic duuuh huh? look on their face, as they have no idea what a true migraine really is.
If that wasn’t funny enough, there’s usually at least one other person within ear-shot who HAS had a migraine…they get a good chuckle and eye-roll out of it as well.

I hope you didn’t hit on your head on the bucket in the process - cause that doesn’t help migraines. Although I’m not a doctor so after all, I wouldn’t know
No need to apologize. Posting with a headache and/ or fever rarely produces masterpieces. Although sometimes it works for rock artists.

Good to know you are back. Tis means you feel better then or at least those head aches have gone by…
Have good health and good luck!
