Excuse me! I'm talking to you!

The Spitting Vessell avatar

The Spitting Vessel is off doing his humanitarian bit in a cyclone disaster zone. While he is away he has access to only the most basic amenities and cannot drop Entrecards.

During this time, it would be a beautiful gesture on the part of the Entrecard Community to rally round a fine blogger and loyal commenter, and visit, drop cards, leave comments and generally let him know that we are a community. I’ve been remiss, but intend to make it up now.

I know that Durano Lawayan, a.k.a. Brad Spit, is a good friend of many blogs, especially on Entrecard, so please help by visiting The Spitting Vessel.

Internet Marketing And The Impossible Dream

July 29th, 2008 Comments (6)

Reward Rebel logo miniLast Summer, when Internet marketing entrepreneur Harris Fellman adopted the persona of Sal the Sitestealer as a gimmick to promote his latest product, I thought it was an hilarious gag, but after a wee while, I got tired of the whole charade.

During the past year, now and again, I’ve dipped into Fellman’s overall online output – some good, and some not so good. However, I’ve just been perusing his blog, The Weekly Buzz and in particular, a post titled How 4 Hour Work Week Fd Me Up.

In this brief article, Fellman highlights an important aspect of attempting to create a full-time income from a part-time work (at home) ethic, and anyone tailoring their income generation strategies to ‘work smarter, not harder’ should benefit by reading this piece.

It’s not a lengthy post and will take just a few minutes of your time, but you’ll learn something very valuable.

Let’s ensure we enjoy our Internet marketing adventures!

Internet Marketing Legacy - Part 2

July 28th, 2008 Comments (2)

Reward Rebel logo miniReward Rebel logo miniCorey Rudl quickly achieved recognition and popularity as an Internet marketing consultant due to his unconventional marketing techniques and strategies adapted to the online medium.

In order to share his expert knowledge with a wider audience, in 1996, Rudl founded the Internet Marketing Center, and developed the best-selling course, Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on the Internet.

Derek Gehl was in his early 20s when he joined the Internet Marketing Center — he was eager to work with Rudl who had fast become an Internet Marketing legend!

Photo of Derek Gehl, CEO of IMCGehl is the former President of one of the most successful Internet marketing communities, ‘The Internet Marketing Challenge Online Community’. Under his guidance, the community grew to over 5,000 paying members and over 100,000 subscribers in two years, which generated profits of $492,500.

Deeply impressed by Gehl’s achievements with his own online business, Rudl quickly offered him a key role at the Internet Marketing Center, where they worked together closely.

In 2005, when the stunning news of Rudl’s fatal accident was received, his family gave its support to Gehl stepping in as Chief Executive Officer of the Internet Marketing Center. By so doing, Gehl has continued Rudl’s legacy of helping to create Internet millionaires.

Under Gehl’s guidance, the company continues to thrive, and the online business once managed by one man, now has around 100 employees and generates gross annual revenues exceeding $19 million!

Without a doubt, Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on the Internet offers the most comprehensive and easy-to-follow instructions for building an effective and profitable online business, which has helped many small business owners achieve their dreams by teaching them how to work smarter, not harder!

Internet Marketing Legacy

July 24th, 2008 Comments (10)

Reward Rebel logo miniLast year I purchased the Internet Marketing Center’s ‘Insider Secrets To Marketing Your Business On The Internet’ (two A4 lever arch files and half a dozen CDs stuffed with information).

This is promoted under the name Derek Gehl, the renowned internet marketing entrepreneur and CEO of Internet Marketing Center, however, I kept encountering references to the same product being promoted as Corey Rudl’s. For some time, it remained a mystery how one product should be promoted as being first one person’s, then another’s.

Finally, I got around to some research, and here’s the first instalment of what I discovered.

Picture of Corey RudlCorey Nicholas Rudl hailed from La Jolla, California where, before beginning his business career, Rudl was a motocross driver, and in 2002 he won a Vancouver Molson Indy sports car event.

A pioneer of e-commerce, in 1994 Rudl started his first online business with just $25 capital!

He promoted his book, ‘Car Secrets Revealed’, online. He’d discovered that hood ornaments for Ferraris and Lamborghinis were popular targets for thieves, and so Rudl began selling inexpensive replacements, and for four years ran this business before giving it to his father.

In response to the demand for his advice, Rudl founded the Internet Marketing Center, where he taught techniques and strategies learned from his own experiences.

He certainly knew how to make money, and his legacy is to be found in the inspiration, training, and marketing tools still available to Internet Marketing apprentices all over the world. He has helped countless small business owners generate consistent income from using the internet to build their own online business.

Rudl maintained his success by testing new strategies on a daily basis. He developed the ability to forecast market trends and predict (if not create) the ‘next big’ success strategy. As a result of these accomplishments, his Internet Marketing course, ‘Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on the Internet’, is one of the most successful and useful ‘How To’ guides in print today, and many online business owners refer to it as the ‘Internet Marketing Bible’.

Tragically, Corey Rudl died, aged 34, on Thursday, June 2 of injuries sustained in a racing crash at the California Speedway in Fontana, California. According to the Associated Press, Rudl was a passenger in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, which went out of control, left the inside track, careened onto the grass, hit a barrier, and caught fire. Though Rudl was wearing a seat belt and helmet, he died at the scene of the crash. The driver was airlifted to Loma Linda Hospital, but died about an hour later.

So, what became of the Internet Marketing Center, and how does Derek Gehl feature in its future?

To be continued…..

Entrecard & SezWho banner

A few days ago, came the announcement of a new partnership between Entrecard and SezWho, the popular and well-established blog commenting platform.

Reward Rebel enjoys a pretty satisfactory level of commenting, and yet there’s already been a noticeable increase since SezWho became part of the Entrecard equation.

Evidently bloggers value comments - and Entrecard Credits - very highly! And so, as part of Reward Rebel’s forthcoming first birthday celebrations, I’m going to backtrack over the comments here, and rate as many as time permits.

In fact, talk about excellent timing! I had already started to showcase my favourite posts to Entrecard visitors, and you’re invited to participate in Reward Rebel’s birthday bash by taking a moment while you’re here to rate any post or comment that you’ve enjoyed. After all, what goes around, comes around, and your turn will come!

Since its inception, Entrecard has helped launch many blogs, and has been a good friend to Reward Rebel. Bringing SezWho onboard will undoubtedly provide the icing on the cake.

Shape Up Your Domain Name!

July 6th, 2008 Comments (11)

Reward Rebel logo miniInternet marketing is an extremely broad topic, including too many specialties for anyone to really be an expert in everything. I make no claims to be an expert in anything, however, I’d like to share a few key points with you about domain name composition and structure.

1. The letters and words of your domain name should form a shape, because the eye recognises the shape first, and then identifies the word and meaning.

Letters that sit on, above and through the line create the shape of the words.

Example of a badly constructed domain name

The above example is just a block of letters, it doesn’t have a defined shape for the eye to recognise.

However, here’s an excellent example, rewardrebel.com uses letters that sit both on and above the line, forming a spikey shape that’s easy for the eye to recognise and retain.

Example of a well constructed domain name

2. Avoid running the same letters together, as in the first example above - ourownnames – the two n’s running together, makes it difficult for the eye to differentiate the words.

3. Don’t assume that a group of words that makes sense to you, will make the same sense to someone else. When I worked in the hospice/cancer sector, one day a new online publication titled canceri (Cancer I) was launched, and my colleague Ceri asked, “why have they called it Can Ceri?“! Everyone’s perspective has a subjective individuality!

4. Include keywords in your domain name, as this helps improve your website’s ranking by the search engines.

Search engines determine a website’s page rank, in part, by where the keywords appear in the site’s structure. This is why it’s essential that your website has a site map, and you can download Google [XML] Sitemap Generator Plugin here

Enjoy your internet marketing adventure.
