Reward Rebel para logoThis past month has been an exceptionally busy and exciting one - I’ve launched a new website, Crete Delights, as well as started development of a personal journal, which is still under wraps.

Something I’ve been thrilled to discover, as an offshoot of launching a new website, is that I’ve been working on lots of new content for Reward Rebel simply by writing about the issues that arise from the development of another site! As South Park’s Cartman would say, “S-w-e-e-e-t!”

So, while on the one hand I have more work, on the other, generating fresh content seems to be easier and more prolific.

My special thanks, for continued patronage of Reward Rebel this month, go to August’s top ten Entrecard droppers.

Marketing Bare Butt River Frolics

September 2nd, 2008

Reward Rebel para logoWhen you’re building traffic to your website, think of it like you’re fishing for the plentiful, but fickle, blog-reader and, if you’re going to capture the curiosity and interest of a serious shoal of these elusive creatures, you need a super damn-fine headline as a lure!

I have recently been reminded of how important it is to successful Internet marketing that you learn to craft attention-grabbing titles for your work. Whether it is an article, a photograph, video, sales page - every successful Internet marketer will say the same thing, that the headline is the most important and valuable item of copy.

Words conjure up an image in the mind, and you should carefully consider the words you want to deploy to sketch your meaning in the reader’s mind.

My new website, Crete Delights, has a number of videos, which I’m trying out hosting on YouTube.  One of the videos I’ve uploaded to the site, features my partner navigating a shallow river in Crete, whilst sunbathing naked on a lilo!

An immediate ‘cheeky’ title sprang to my mind, “Crete Bare Butt River Frolics”, and I also immediately figured that a title like that would attract interest.

The other four videos have less saucy-sounding titles, and you can see the difference in viewing figures below in the screenshot of my YouTube channel.

Sure enough, the number of viewings for each video varies between 15 and 43, except for “Crete Bare Butt River Frolics” which has been viewed 117  170 230 times! (’Crete Rethymnon Beach’ is next most popular with 62 views.)

Next time you’re struggling to devise a catchy headline for an article, don’t quit on it, just remember this post, and how a few well-chosen words can more than triple the traffic generated.  It’s opened my eyes!

Good luck with your own successful Internet marketing adventure.

Crete Delights Is Live And Kicking!

August 26th, 2008

Recent weeks have seen me hunched over my PC or laptop, drafting articles and brief posts, editing photos and videos, and mapping out the foundations of my latest venture, Crete Delights.

Still in its infancy, Crete Delights is a blog featuring my intended relocation paradise, the Greek Island of Crete.

There is still heaps of work to do on it, as I don’t have a custom designed template, I’m developing a free one, and I’ll see where this leads, and whether I like it when I get there!

I enjoy the early evolutionary stages of a new website, and although I did contemplate delaying its launch until I had every element tweaked to perfection, it dawned on me that I could be waiting forever!

A compromise has been reached whereby I’m now starting to promote Crete Delights with its initial dozen or so posts, which are well illustrated with photos and videos, and its readership will, hopefully, grow in tandem with its content.

I do hope that you’ll take a few moments to peruse Crete Delights and feedback is always welcome. Of course, the comments stats look mighty sad in these early days, but you’re not going to allow that to continue, are you?

My online business and Internet marketing adventure is a long and winding road, which just took another diversion!

SezWho Says Sayonara

August 14th, 2008

RR logo miniI have removed SezWho and reactivated 4Avatars, although I still believe that Entrecard’s partnership with a comments platform has tremendous potential. It is an invaluable service for new blogs that need to pull out all the stops to attract both traffic and comments, but I don’t think it’s right for Reward Rebel.

Curiously, there don’t appear to be as many MyBlogLog avatars as I recall prior to SezWho being activated. Could this be nostalgia playing tricks on my senses? LOL!

I’m delighted to have also installed the plugin Wordpress Thread Comment, so that comments and their replies are aligned for easy perusal. Sometimes I’d edit the date and/or time of my response to a comment, so that there was a clear flow to the conversations, although I didn’t like creating inaccuracies, and now I won’t have to!

While you’re here, take a look at Reward Rebel’s favourite plugins.
